I am now an IBM Certified Advanced Application Developer – Lotus Notes and Domino 8.5

I recently passed the LOT-922 certification test (Developing IBM Lotus Domino 8.5.2 Applications: Advanced XPage Design). The test is a multiple choice test with 32 questions and a required passing score of 75%- I scored 90%.

Since I was already an IBM Certified Application Developer on Notes/Domino 8.5 the passing of the test upgraded my certification level to IBM Certified Advanced Application Developer – Lotus Notes and Domino 8.5.

I prepared for the test by reading the test objectives and by practicing using a practice test from CertFX. The test focuses on advanced XPages programming and covers the following areas:

  • Building themes
  • Extending the data sources
  • Optimizing, troubleshooting and localization
  • Using advanced Dojo controls
  • Using Server-side JavaScript
  • Using XPages for mobile user interfaces
  • Working with Java

Unfortunately, the test is already somewhat outdated in its focus on Domino Designer 8.5.2. So be prepared for that if you plan to take the test.

IBM Certified Application Developer – Lotus Notes and Domino 8.5

Last week at the DanNotes conference IBM offered certification tests at half the price. I took the LOT-951 test in record time between lunch and the developer BOF and passed with a score of 87.5%.

The test focuses on Domino Designer in Eclipse features, some @Formula and Lotusscript programming enhancements, and a lot of XPages. If you plan on taking the test, then rememember to have a look at the test objectives while preparing for the test.

Next up for me is the LOT-922 test which is required to upgrade my certification to the advanced level.

I am now an IBM Certified Application Developer – Lotus Notes and Domino 8.0

I passed the IBM Lotus Notes Domino 8 Application Development Update exam (LOT-801) today and have thereby upgraded my certification to IBM Certified Application Developer – Lotus Notes and Domino 8.

I primarily used the Lotus Notes/Domino 8.0 release notes and the Notes/Domino Designer 8.0 Help and also the LOT-801 practice test from CertFX. The 801 test has a lot of focus on Domino on DB2, Composite Applications, and Web Services. I can – once again – highly recommend using a practice test as it gives you a good indication of how the actual test will be structured. Good luck if you consider taking a certification test.

I can now look forward to the LOT-951 test to achive the 8.5 certification – and then later the necessary test to achieve the Advanced 8.5 certification.

IT architect accreditation accomplished

As announced on Twitter my accreditation package was approved today and I am now an IBM accredited IT architect. This IBM accreditation can be compared to the Open Group level 1 certification called “Certified IT Architect”.

Part of my package included 2 project profiles for projects that were both Lotus Domino based web projects involving teaming with global resource colleagues from IBM India.

Now I will start to focus on my certification package to eventually become an IBM certified IT architect that can be directly compared to the Open Group level 2 certification called “Master Certified IT Architect”.

R7 Application Development Update exam (701) passed

Today I passed the IBM Lotus Notes Domino 7 Application Development Update exam (701) with a score of 92% and have thereby upgraded my certification to IBM Certified Advanced Application Developer – Lotus Notes and Domino 7.

I used the material presented earlier and also used the 701 certification test from Advanced CLP. I can highly recommend using a practice test as it gives you a good indication of how the actual test will be structured.

Good luck if you consider taking a certification test.

Preparing for exam 701

I have now booked exam 701: IBM Lotus Notes Domino 7 Application Development Update for April 10 and hope to pass in order to upgrade my IBM Certified Advanced Application Developer – Lotus Notes and Domino certification from R6 to R7.

In preparing for the exam I am using the resources listed on the exam 701 page plus an article on Web Services:
