Online architecture journals

I have recently found two online architecture journals that are available for free:

  1. Enterprise Architect (and the related architecture channel) (by Fawcette Technical Publications)
  2. The Architecture Jounal (by Microsoft)

At FTPOnline you can even find other free online journals on subjects such as Java and Visual Studio.

You can subscribe to both online and print subscriptions of the The Architecture Jounal for free.

Happy reading!

Characteristics of a software architect

Peter Eeles (Senior IT Architect, IBM) today published an article in developerWorks Architecture on the characteristics of a software architect. The article is an interesting read on the role of an architect in software development projects.

As I see it Peter Eeles is describing the T-shape of skills that the software architect must have – horisontal breadth combined with vertical depth (broad experience and deep specific knowledge). Philip Hartman has heard this described as a Pi-shape.

I am not quite there yet – but I am working on it 🙂

Welcome

I am Per Henrik Lausten from Denmark, an IT Architect within IBM Business Consulting Services working with Lotus Notes and Domino. I have been working with Lotus Notes/Domino since 1997 (starting with release 3.3) primarily as an application developer but also as system administrator. Since 2005 I have been trying to use my knowledge of Domino in the IT Architect field.

I have been a certified application developer since Lotus Notes R4.5 and I am currently an “IBM Certified Advanced Application Developer – Lotus Notes and Domino 6/6.5” and have plans to upgrade my certification to release 7.

I plan to blog about Lotus Notes and Domino, IT Architecture, technology and other IT related stuff that I find interesting in both my professional life as an IT Architect at IBM and in my personal life.

Thank you for visiting – hope to see you soon!
