2006 in review
December 31st, 2006It's the last day of the year and a time to look back at 2006. I started blogging in March 2006 and have enjoyed that blogging leads to more than just a way for me to share knowledge and information on "Lotus Domino, IT Architecture, technology and other IT stuff" (the title of my blog).
Via the community around blogging I have "met" a lot of people online - including Ed Brill, Alan Lepofsky, Rocky Oliver, Andy Piper, Luis Suarez, Philip Hartman, the Eight Bar team, Kelly Drahzal, Mikkel Heisterberg, Joachim Dagerot, Thomas Adrian, Ben Poole and many more.
Worth mentioning:
- I was accepted on the official Lotus Geek honor roll!
- I passed the Lotus Notes/Domino R7 Application Development Update exam
- I did some volunteer work for Ben Poole by translating DominoWiki into Danish.
I have contributed to the Lotus Notes and Domino Blogging Community Show'n Tell Thursday series with the following posts:
- Architectural patterns and Domino
- Lotus Domino and designing for accessibility
- getItemValueString and Domino 6.5.5 and 7.0
- Sorting a NotesDocumentCollection by multiple field values
Other interesting news in 2006:
- A new mainframe for small and medium sized businesses was announced in April.
- Lots of information on the upcoming Lotus Notes 8 client (a.ka. Hannover)
- Lotus Notes client on Linux is here.
- Lotus Sametime 7.5 has been released.
- The Rational Software Delivery platform v7.0 has been released - and includes Rational Software Architect V7.0 (RSA) and Rational Application Developer V7.0 (RAD)
- News on the upcoming Lotus Domino 8 server is now available.
- IBM is now officially in Second Life
Happy new year!

Great connecting with you, Per - maybe we'll bump into each other in person in 2007.
Happy New Year to you, too 🙂
