Inspired by Theo Heselmans and many others here is my version of “How I got started with Lotus Notes”.
I have been with IBM since 1994 and in 1997 I worked in a support team that developed and maintained tools to support the product introduction process. IBM had acquired Lotus in 1995 so it was natural for us to start developing tools using Lotus Notes.
I started with Lotus Notes R3.3 and worked with Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino ever since – and in the case of Domino on platforms such as Windows, Linux, AIX and z/OS.
I am a certified developer in R4.5, R5, R6 and R7 – and not yet in R8. I have to start looking at the R8 upgrade path soon 🙂
Who’s left to tell their story?
Earlier this year the IBM Redbooks team were looking for authors for creating a wiki on best practices for building web application for Lotus Domino 8. The team has been assembled and the result is a wiki on developerWorks on Lotus Domino web application development best practices.
The result looks very interesting and I look forward to have a deeper look into the details of the work.

A Redpaper called “IBM Lotus Notes and Domino 8 Reviewer’s Guide” has just been published and features relevant information on Lotus Notes 8.0 and Lotus Domino 8.0 for the user, the administrator and the developer. The Redpaper looks like an interesting read for those curious about the new features of the 8.0 release.
